Almost 2 months late....

Finally put together the collaboration of what Spin, Pitch Fork and Paste say were the best albums of 2009. Time to play catch up on the ones I don't have or haven't listened to. Thank goodness for lala.com, so I can listen before I decide what I actually want to add to my library.

Resolutions

I try to only make ones that I'll have fun doing.

1. Read more books than I did in 2009 (60). Not completely confident I can do this one, but I'm going to try, try, try.
2. Listen to more classical music, enough to actually have a preference on composers and maybe even musicians.
3. Give Hip Hop more of a chance.
4. Continue last year's seeking out as much new music as possible resolution.
5. Buy and wear more heels.
6. Try really hard to make one meal a week that I've never made before. Recommendations eagerly accepted.
7. Treadmill more often.
8. Go to bed at a reasonable hour as often as possible.
9. See my long-distance friends more often (woohoo Jax, Lou & Vegas!!)
10. See The Black Keys in concert.

The List

Have a suggestions for me? Please add to my list.

Now I just need to look through iTunes to remind myself what I've already gotten from the libraries in the last month or so.

The ListCollapse )

May. 17th, 2005

This is partially for you guys, but partially for Jeremy too, since he can't click on links in his work e-mail (lotus notes) and it'd be easier if he just had one page to open and click on links.

This is weird

I just looked at my Netflix queue and out of the 30 movies listed, there were at least 5 I know I didn't put in my queue. A couple of them I kept, but why would I rent one of the original Star Wars movies when we have multiple versions of them (wide screen, remastered, blah, blah, blah)? A couple of the movies I had never even heard of. I actually like obscure movies, and seek out ones I've never heard of, but I at least read what they're about, or watch a preview and these I had never see anything about them at all. Very weird.

Audio Books

Hey Annie, I finished reading listening to "Little Children" last week.  Let me know if you want to have an online book discussion.  I'm very curious now to see how they make a movie of it.

I got 3 more books from my library hold list.  I returned "Little Children", but still had one other book from my last checkout, so now I have these four:
"The DaVinci Code"
"The Five People You Meet In Heaven"
"Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim"
"Good Grief"

The first two have been loaded on my iPod, so I will probably start listening to one of them today.  Once I get all four uploaded to iTunes at least, I'll go on and return the CDs, for someone else to enjoy.

Wheeee

Taking a half day today to go to Keeneland with some girlfriends.  One of them, that I've known since freshman year of high school is moving to New Zealand.  Her hubby is a professor and will be teaching there next semester.  They've been up in Minneapolis for the last several years, so she came home one last time before they move.  It's still cold, high in the upper 50's, but it's suppose to be sunny all day, so it should be nice.  Can't wait till noon!!

Sounds good to me.

We've been enjoying weather in the upper 70's for a couple weeks and now we have the possibility for snow this weekend.  It would figure that the one year I get all my planting done early, we have a freak cold spell in late April.  Looks like I'll be covering all my plants tonight.
